USS Games was created by Under Siege Studio in order to create a flash games portal that puts the visitors in control. It's you, the people out there playing the games that decide what goes on our front page.

This page will mainly serve as a guide to the site, it's features and how they work and general help. If you feel there is something that is not explained here or that could be explained better, then please email admin@ussgames.com.

Rating Games

Rating games is an important part of the site. This is how we put you in the driving seat and we made it as easy as possible, just one click on a star and you're done - you don't even have to register!

New games go in to a special Under Evaluation section until they get enough votes for their rating to stabalise, then they get promoted to the main site. So if you like a game, make sure you rate it - the highest rated games get the best visibility.

If you really think a game stinks, give it a zero or a one rating and it'll soon get hidden from view.

We also have a Mochiads section with 250 games direct from a feed from Mochiads. Many other portals use similar feeds, but you only get to see one or two games, usually hand picked at the admin's descretion. We felt this needed to change and give you direct access to the games from the feed, as soon as they are released. You have the power to get games from this section moved over to the main site, so have a rummage through and if you find a gem, make sure you click the plus button!

Members

We tried to make registering as painless as possible. There are a few security measures, to discourage spam and bots, but we're sure you can understand that. When you register you get access to the following:

• Favourite Games (for quick access)
• Favourite Authors (again for quick access)
• Comment on games
• Upload your own games (Flash Authors)
• Customisable Author/Uploader page
• Earn points and get on our Home Page
• Access to future features as they become available

Uploading

Authors can upload their own games. This means you can guarantee the game will immediately get on the home page for at least a short while (why rely on us to find it and add it to the site?). The Under Evaluation section on the Home Page is sorted so the games with the least plays come first, so everybody gets an equal amount of exposure for new games.

We developed our two-part upload system in order to make things run as smooth as possible. On too many sites I've tried to upload a game and for some reason the swf upload failed, resulting in me losing my detailed description that I just spent five minutes typing.

We remedied the upload problem by separating the swf upload from adding a game. To add a game, click the Upload link at the top right of any page and you can enter all the details of your game, and save them. Next you will be taken to your account page and at the top of the list you should see your newly added game, with a link nearby that says Upload Swf - click that to upload the swf. Your description and thumbnail are all safe!

Back on the account page after the upload has completed, you can test the game before you show it to the world. Once you've shown your game you can hide it again at any time or update it whenever you like.

We also now offer a free flash game distribution service. You can opt out when you upload or edit your games.

Points

The points system is a way for our members to earn some recognition for their effort within the community. The top ten members are displayed on the Home page.

You earn points for uploading games, rating games and leaving comments. If your game has a good rating after 50 votes you will earn an extra bonus.

To view your points trail, click the points total on the Account page, if you are logged in you can view the points trail of other members from their author page.

The Future

The web site is in constant development - what web site isn't? So expect to see new features added every now and then and general improvements around the site.
